Red Trees is director Marina Willer’s attempt to understand today’s refugee crisis through the story of her own family, one of only twelve Jewish families to survive the Nazi occupation of Prague during World War II.

The story is told through Marina’s voice and her father’s Alfred Willer, who witnessed the loss of most of his family and friends, but survived to build a post-war life as an architect in Brazil, becoming an inspiration to the next generations of his family from his daughter Marina through to his grandchildren.

Red Trees is a story of acceptance, colour and hope.
